Odisha's Film Awards 2023-2024: Celebrating Cinematic Excellence!

The Odisha government has announced the winners of the 35th and 36th State Film Awards for 2023 and 2024, recognizing outstanding achievements in cinema. Veteran filmmaker Shyamalendu Bhattacharya and actress Namrata Das received lifetime achievement honors. The awards ceremony will take place on June 26, with notable films like 'Pushkara' and 'My Sweet Housewife' sharing the Best Film title for 2023. Other winners include Best Actor Harihar Mahapatra and Best Actress Naina Dash Tiwari. This initiative aims to promote quality Odia films that resonate with cultural values.

Odisha Government Honors Film Achievements


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, the Odisha government revealed the winners of the 35th and 36th State Film Awards for the years 2023 and 2024, celebrating excellence in 30 different categories each year.


The announcement was made by Suryabanshi Suraj, the Minister for Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, at Sanskruti Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. The awards ceremony is scheduled for June 26.


Veteran director Shyamalendu Bhattacharya has been honored with the esteemed Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Award for his lifetime contributions to cinema for 2023, while actress Namrata Das will receive the same honor for 2024.


In the Best Film category, Pushkara and My Sweet Housewife shared the award for 2023, while Ashram was recognized as the Best Film for 2024.


Harihar Mahapatra was awarded Best Actor for 2023, with Babushaan taking the title for 2024. The Best Actress award for 2023 was jointly awarded to Naina Dash Tiwari and Supriya Nayak, while Debjani Dehury was named Best Actress for 2024.


Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu will share the Best Director award for 2023, while Ashok Pati was recognized as Best Director for 2024.


Suraj congratulated all the winners, emphasizing that the State Film Awards aim to inspire the production of high-quality Odia films that reflect social relevance and cultural values. He expressed optimism that these awards would foster the growth of the Odia film industry.


The selection of winners was conducted by a jury committee led by filmmaker Pranab Das, with senior officials from the Culture Department present during the announcement.
