SYDNEY: The vibrant cultural heritage of Odisha was beautifully showcased in Sydney through the annual dance event organized by the Nrityashree Odissi Dance Academy, which is led by Debashree Das. This event celebrated the classical dance form of Odissi, highlighting the commitment and enthusiasm of students who have been diligently training under Das’ mentorship. As the academy's Founder and Creative Director, Debashree has been dedicated to promoting Odissi in Australia, providing avenues for the younger generation to engage with India's rich cultural traditions.


The evening was filled with captivating Odissi performances, allowing attendees to appreciate the elegance, expressive movements, and narrative elements that define this classical dance style. Additionally, guest artists from the Mayura Academy enriched the program with Kuchipudi performances, adding further depth to the celebration.

Debashree’s artistic journey includes extensive training in Odissi, having studied at the Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Dance Academy in Bhubaneswar, received Visharad training under Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, and continues to learn from the esteemed Guru Smt. Sarita Mishra.
