Premiere of 'Charikandha' This Friday

Bhubaneswar: The highly praised Odia short film 'Charikandha', produced by Ritupriya Production, is scheduled for its theatrical release this Friday. This 36-minute film has made its mark by participating in over 46 film festivals globally, securing more than 22 awards in the process.


Significantly, 'Charikandha' was featured in the mid-length film category at the esteemed Hokkaido International Film Festival in Japan. Among just eight films chosen worldwide for this category, it stood out as the only Indian entry and garnered several accolades. The film delves into modern social issues and the isolation often faced by the elderly, offering a poignant and thought-provoking storyline.


The film's narrative, screenplay, and direction are the creative work of Bishwanath Rath, with Atish Kumar Rout as the producer. Co-producers include Supriya Rout and Akhil Rajurkar. In a statement to the media, Producer Rout expressed his belief that viewers will leave the theaters in tears rather than applause after experiencing the film's profound storytelling and emotional resonance. A special premiere event will take place at PVR in Utkal Kanika Galleria on Friday, he added.
