Nora Fatehi Summoned for Testimony

Bollywood star Nora Fatehi has been called to testify in a significant ₹200 crore extortion case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has scheduled her appearance for November 2, 2026, where she will provide her statement as a witness for the prosecution. This development is crucial as it aims to bolster the legal case against the accused, following her mention in the third supplementary charge sheet.

It is essential to clarify that Nora Fatehi is being summoned solely as a witness and is not implicated as an accused in this case. Her connection arises from previous inquiries into her alleged interactions with Chandrashekhar's associates and the acceptance of luxury gifts. Throughout the investigation, she has firmly denied any involvement in illegal activities or money laundering, asserting that she is a victim who has fully cooperated with law enforcement.

Background of the Extortion Scheme

The origins of this case trace back to 2020 when Sukesh Chandrashekhar reportedly targeted Aditi Singh, the spouse of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, who was then in custody due to a separate money laundering case. Prosecutors claim that Chandrashekhar impersonated high-ranking government officials, including those from the Ministry of Law, to reach out to Aditi Singh, promising to facilitate her husband's bail in exchange for significant financial compensation.

Criminal Operations from Prison

Authorities uncovered that Chandrashekhar managed this intricate scheme while serving time in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, allegedly employing call-spoofing technology to disguise his communications as official government correspondence. This operation, reportedly aided by jail staff and outside accomplices, persisted for over a year. The scam came to light in August 2021 when Aditi Singh alerted the Delhi Police about a demand for ₹1 crore, prompting a sting operation that led to the arrest of Chandrashekhar and his collaborators.
