Mumbai, July 22: The producers of the beloved film ‘3 Idiots’ have denied rumors regarding its re-release. On Wednesday, the production company took to social media to clarify that the film will not be returning to theaters.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films released an official statement addressing recent claims about a re-release scheduled for September 4, 2026.
They stated, “In light of recent media reports suggesting that ‘3 Idiots’ will be re-released on September 4, we would like to clarify that these claims are false and misleading. We ask media personnel and fans to depend only on official communications from Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films’ verified platforms. We also request that media outlets avoid spreading unverified information.”
The speculation arose amidst ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, where Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed by Delhi Police after completing a 21-day hunger strike aimed at reforming the education system and addressing issues related to paper leaks.
In popular culture, Sonam Wangchuk has been recognized as an inspiration for Aamir Khan’s character in ‘3 Idiots’. However, Aamir recently clarified that the character is not based on Wangchuk but is a creation of the writers' imagination.
