Nitanshi Goel Shines as Showstopper at Lakme Fashion Week with Suneet Varma's Kashi Collection
A Dazzling Evening at Taj Palace Hotel
On Thursday, actor Nitanshi Goel, celebrated for her role in Laapataa Ladies, captivated the audience at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi. She took the spotlight as the showstopper for renowned designer Suneet Varma, who presented his latest fashion collection named Kashi during the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week.
A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity
The showcase emphasized Varma’s unique design philosophy, which harmonizes traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary global styles. The Kashi collection featured an array of ready-to-wear garments, including draped saris, dhoti skirts, tailored jackets, corset tops, and trousers, all reflecting a modern aesthetic.
Nostalgia as a Design Muse
Suneet Varma, a stalwart in the Indian fashion scene for over three decades, shared that the Kashi collection is deeply influenced by his travels to Varanasi. He expressed that the creative journey was steeped in nostalgia, recalling a textile sourcing expedition he embarked on more than thirty years ago.
In a media interaction following the show, Varma elaborated on how he revisited his archives to inspire the new line. He highlighted a cape featuring a tree of life motif, an element he first explored years ago. By merging this historical artwork with the essence of Kashi, Varma aimed to weave a narrative that intertwines spirituality with modern, wearable fashion.
Nitanshi Goel's Stunning Runway Look
For her runway appearance, Nitanshi Goel donned a wine-hued lehenga that beautifully showcased the collection's blend of styles. The outfit featured a mermaid-tail skirt embellished with intricate sequins, paired with an off-shoulder draped top, presenting a contemporary twist on traditional attire.
Expressing her excitement about the collaboration, Goel remarked on how the designer’s vision resonated with her, making her feel confident and appreciative of the craftsmanship involved. The Lakme Fashion Week, organized in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), will continue through the weekend, culminating with designer Amit Aggarwal's showcase of his label, AM.IT, on Sunday.
