Mumbai, September 3: Actress Nimisha Sajayan has shared insights into the intense physical transformation she underwent for her role in 'Babita Singh Reporting.'
Nimisha disclosed that she added approximately 14 kg to her weight for the character, describing her experience of consuming up to 8,000 calories daily as an 'absolute nightmare.'
In an exclusive interview, she mentioned that she weighed 58 kg when she was cast for the role of Assistant Sub-Inspector Babita Singh in the film directed by Ambiecka Pandit.
To achieve the desired weight, she collaborated with a team of experts, ultimately reaching 72 kg.
Reflecting on her transformation, Nimisha stated, 'Yes, I gained almost 14 kgs for the character. I was 58 when I was selected, and then we began the weight gain process with professionals like Dr. Siddhant Karan and Chef Saif Dada. Initially, I started with 1,200 calories, which eventually increased to around 8,000 calories.'
When asked about the challenge of consuming such a massive amount of food, she candidly expressed, 'It was a nightmare, an absolute nightmare for me. 8,000 calories is an enormous quantity. I was literally stuffing myself, but I enjoyed the process because it brought me closer to the character.'
This physical change was crucial for Nimisha's portrayal of Babita, an insecure police officer who often faces dismissal at work and struggles to meet the expectations of those around her.
After completing the filming of 'Babita Reporting,' Nimisha quickly returned to her previous weight by resuming a diet of 1,000 calories per day and intensifying her workouts.
Nimisha has previously discussed the judgment she faced regarding her appearance, noting that she has reached a point where such comments no longer impact her as they once did.
'I have been judged for my looks many times, but it doesn't affect me,' she remarked.
Drawing a connection between her experiences and Babita's, she noted that there comes a time when continuous disrespect prompts a reaction.
'You can tolerate it, but there's a limit to disrespect, and eventually, you start to respond,' she added, highlighting this aspect of Babita's character arc.
