In a significant development, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have officially ended their marriage, which lasted nearly two decades. A judge in Nashville, Tennessee, finalized their divorce during a hearing on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of one of the entertainment industry's most notable partnerships.

Judge Stephanie J. Williams confirmed in court documents that the couple had adequately resolved their asset division and child custody arrangements, leading to the granting of their divorce.

The judge noted that the couple faced irreconcilable differences that made it impractical to continue their marriage.

Both Kidman and Urban chose not to attend the hearing, and attempts to reach their representatives for comments went unanswered.

Nicole Kidman initiated the divorce process in September, which caught many by surprise, although it appears that the couple had been preparing for this decision for some time. All legal matters regarding their assets and custody were settled on the same day she filed.

In Tennessee, a 90-day waiting period is mandatory for couples with minor children before a divorce can be finalized.

The couple, both aged 58, share two teenage daughters. Their divorce filing cited 'marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences' as the reasons for their split.

According to their agreement, Kidman will be the primary residential parent, and they plan to continue living in Nashville, where they have resided throughout their marriage. The agreement also states that neither party will require child or spousal support and outlines a nearly equal distribution of their shared assets.

Kidman and Urban, both prominent figures from Australia, first met in Los Angeles in 2005 and tied the knot in Sydney the following year. They were often seen together at various high-profile events, including the Oscars and country music awards.

Despite having openly discussed some challenges in their marriage, there were few indications that a divorce was imminent.

This marriage was Urban's first and Kidman's second; she was previously married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001.
