Garrett Wareing, known for his role in Ransom Canyon, and Amanda Fix from Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen have been cast in the upcoming prequel titled The Conjuring: First Communion. Previously, the younger versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren were portrayed by Orlon Smith and Madison Lawlor in the franchise, which stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the lead roles. The latest installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, hit theaters in 2025 and achieved significant box office success. This prequel will be helmed by director Rodrigue Huart.


Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix Join Forces in The Conjuring: First Communion


As reported by Dread Central, Garrett Wareing will take on the role of a younger Ed Warren, while Amanda Fix will portray a younger Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring: First Communion. The film, directed by Rodrigue Huart, is co-written by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing. Filming has already commenced on this project, which is a collaboration between Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.



While the plot details for The Conjuring: First Communion remain under wraps, the film has secured a release date of September 10, 2027, strategically timed for the Halloween season. Additionally, the studio plans to release The Revenge of La Llorona in theaters on April 9, 2027, which serves as a sequel to The Curse of La Llorona. The Conjuring universe comprises nine films, including The Conjuring (2013), Annabelle (2014), The Conjuring 2 (2016), Annabelle: Creation (2017), The Nun (2018), Annabelle Comes Home (2019), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), The Nun II (2023), and The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025).

Garrett Wareing, 24, began his acting career at the age of 13, making his debut in Dustin Hoffman's film Boychoir (2014). His filmography includes roles in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) and Perfect (2018), along with television appearances in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (2019), Manifest (2020), and Ransom Canyon (2025). He is set to reprise his role as Lucas Russell in the Netflix western Ransom Canyon on July 23, 2026.


On the other hand, Amanda Fix, a Canadian actress, made her film debut in Broken Diamonds (2021). She has been featured in series such as Kung Fu (2021), High School (2022), Orphan Black: Echoes (2023), and Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen this year. Additionally, she will portray the younger version of Gillian Anderson in the upcoming film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, directed by Jane Schoenbrun.
