Netflix Unveils Release Date for The Boroughs: A Supernatural Adventure
The Boroughs Set to Premiere
Netflix is gearing up to launch The Boroughs this spring, but viewers may want to reconsider their plans to visit this intriguing series. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, known for Stranger Things, this new supernatural show will debut on Thursday, May 21, featuring all eight episodes at once. The narrative revolves around a group of unexpected heroes, including Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, and Alfre Woodard, who reside in a seemingly idyllic retirement community. They must unite to confront a terrifying threat that seeks to take away their most precious resource — time, in a series produced by the Duffer Brothers.
Release Date Announcement for The Boroughs
In a statement to Tudum, the Duffer Brothers expressed their curiosity about why no one had created a film akin to Ron Howard’s classic Cocoon since its release. They shared, "Then, unexpectedly, Jeff and Will reached out with a concept for The Boroughs: a tale of retirees facing monsters. They insisted that, unlike many narratives featuring older characters, this story would not treat aging as a joke. Instead, it would portray its characters as genuine individuals confronting real-life challenges, alongside some supernatural elements. It was precisely the show we had envisioned."
Cast and Crew Details
The cast of The Boroughs also includes Bill Pullman, Denis O'Hare, Clarke Peters, Carlos Miranda, Jena Malone, Seth Numrich, and Alice Kremelberg. The creators and showrunners, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who previously worked on Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, will be executive producers alongside the Duffer Brothers. In addition to The Boroughs, the Duffer Brothers are also working on two other Netflix projects set to premiere soon: Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, a horror series launching on March 26, and Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, an animated spin-off arriving on April 23.
