Netflix Faces Legal Challenges Over Nayanthara Documentary

Legal Troubles for Nayanthara's Documentary

The enchanting narrative surrounding Nayanthara's documentary is now at risk of becoming a distressing saga. Reports suggest that Netflix is contemplating the removal of Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale due to escalating legal issues that are forcing the streaming giant to reassess the viability of continuing with the project.

The most recent legal challenge stems from the producers of the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi, who assert that their footage was incorporated into the documentary without authorization. They are seeking ₹5 crore in damages along with a permanent injunction to prevent further use of their clips.

In response to the lawsuit, the Madras High Court has issued notices to both Netflix and the production team behind the documentary. Additionally, actor Dhanush has previously filed a legal notice against Nayanthara and the production company for allegedly using footage from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. It remains uncertain whether Netflix will continue to support Nayanthara’s documentary or decide to withdraw it from their platform.
