Nayanthara's Brief Hiatus from Acting

Nayanthara, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, took a hiatus from acting after a successful run in the industry. She made this decision to focus on personal matters and her relationship. However, her break was not long-lasting. In 2013, she made a notable return with the film Raja Rani, directed by Atlee. Recently, Arya shared insights about her comeback, clarifying that he did not play a role in bringing her back but merely reached out to her when the team faced challenges in casting a heroine for the romantic film.

Arya Discusses Nayanthara's Comeback in Raja Rani

After her 2010 film Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Nayanthara chose to step back from the film industry at the height of her career, citing personal reasons and a desire to focus on her relationship. Her absence surprised many fans, as she was among the most popular actresses at that time. Years later, as director Atlee was preparing Raja Rani, Arya was cast in a significant role.

The production team encountered difficulties in securing a second female lead. In a recent interview with Club FM Kerala, Arya explained that the film was originally intended to feature two heroines, but many established actresses turned down the opportunity. Their reluctance stemmed from the presence of another leading lady, compounded by Atlee's status as a relatively new director.

After facing numerous rejections, Arya decided to personally approach Nayanthara. He proposed the role to her, suggesting that if she was contemplating a return to acting, she should listen to the story. Arya recounted, “I told her, ‘There is this film. It would be nice if you can do it. If you are planning to return to films, you please consider.’ Once she heard the story, she was enthusiastic and agreed to take on the role.

A Triumphant Comeback with Raja Rani

Nayanthara's choice to return proved to be a wise one, as Raja Rani became a significant success. The film, featuring Arya, Nazriya Nazim, and Jai, delved into themes of love, loss, and second chances, resonating well with audiences. Last year, director Atlee celebrated the 12th anniversary of Raja Rani, expressing gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans. Since then, Nayanthara has continued to deliver hit films, earning her the title of Lady Superstar, with fans praising her remarkable comeback.
