Nafisa Ali's Brave Battle: A New Chapter in Her Health Journey
Nafisa Ali Shares Update on Her Health
Veteran actress Nafisa Ali Sodhi has provided an honest update about her ongoing health struggles, revealing that her ovarian cancer has advanced. The 69-year-old star, who has been open with her fans about her medical journey, shared that her treatment plan has been modified to include targeted therapy based on recent test results.
In a heartfelt message from a hospital, she disclosed that a recent PET/CT scan showed new lesions on her liver. Despite this difficult news, she maintained a positive attitude, expressing gratitude to her supporters for their unwavering encouragement as she faces this new chapter in her treatment.
The Shift to Targeted Therapy
The move to targeted therapy signifies a crucial adjustment in the actress's medical approach. As defined by the American Cancer Society, this treatment focuses on specific genetic mutations or alterations in cancer cells to hinder their growth and spread. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, targeted therapy aims to disrupt the unique processes that enable cancer cells to thrive.
A Journey of Strength and Resilience
Nafisa Ali first revealed her cancer diagnosis in 2018, announcing her battle with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer. After undergoing significant surgery in 2019, she continued to manage her health while fulfilling her professional obligations. Earlier this year, she informed her followers that the cancer had recurred, leading to a return to chemotherapy as surgery was no longer an option for her stage 4 condition.
Throughout her health challenges, the former Miss India has remained active in the film industry. Her recent work includes roles in projects like Uunchai and Max, Min and Meowzaki. Since her debut in Shyam Benegal’s 1978 film Junoon, where she starred alongside notable actors like Shashi Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah, she has developed a rich and varied film career.
Her impressive filmography spans decades, featuring performances in Major Saab, Life... In a Metro, Guzaarish, and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3. Despite the physical challenges posed by her treatment, Nafisa Ali has consistently balanced her medical needs with her love for cinema, maintaining a public presence as she continues her current treatment regimen.
