MTV's popular dating reality series, Splitsvilla 16, has concluded its latest season, showcasing a dramatic finale where fan-favorites Kushal Tanwar, known as Gullu, and Kaira Anu emerged as the winners. The duo triumphed in the MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa finale, overcoming competitors Yogesh and Ruru in an exhilarating showdown. This season's unique theme of 'Pyaar Ya Paisa' challenged contestants to navigate the complexities of love versus financial gain, leading to a season filled with unexpected twists, alliances, and conflicts. Gullu and Kaira's journey has become synonymous with this season's narrative following their victory.
Meet Kushal Tanwar, aka Gullu
Kushal Tanwar, affectionately referred to as Gullu, is originally from Gurugram, Haryana. Prior to his reality TV success, he led a life marked by challenges and determination. Reports indicate that he earned a Bachelor of Science in hotel management from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT) in Pune in 2022. However, his post-graduation journey was fraught with difficulties.
Coming from humble beginnings, Kushal attempted various business ventures, including co-founding a café, but faced setbacks. He eventually pivoted to content creation, where his authentic humor and relatable persona began to resonate with audiences online. Interestingly, his foray into reality television began in 2019 when he auditioned for MTV Roadies dressed as a faux sheikh. At that time, he struggled with confidence. Instead of giving up, he focused on self-improvement and returned years later with a renewed mindset.
This transformation proved fruitful in 2025 when he not only re-entered Roadies but also clinched victory in MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross. His winning streak continued with Splitsvilla X6, where he secured a Ticket to Finale and ultimately won the show.
Introducing Kaira Anu
Kaira Anu brought a refreshing dynamic to Splitsvilla X6. Unlike many contestants who had prior fame, Kaira distinguished herself with her remarkable academic credentials and professional background. At just 16, she relocated from India to Canada for her studies, eventually earning a degree in biotechnology and later graduating in dentistry. Professionally, she serves as a dental hygienist, but her talents extend beyond academics; Kaira is also a skilled belly dancer and model, enhancing her presence on the reality show.
Initially part of the “Paisa Villa” group, Kaira later faced several confrontations with fellow contestants, including Akanksha Choudhary and Asmita Adhikari. One notable controversy arose when Nia Sharma confronted her over comments perceived as body-shaming.
After winning the Ticket to Finale, Kaira shared her emotional journey on social media, expressing her initial doubts about lasting in the competition. However, her perspective shifted after meeting Kushal, describing how their bond developed amidst the challenges of the show. She reflected, “And then… I met him. Someone for whom this wasn’t just a show or a dream - it was his whole life, his passion, his everything.” With their victory in MTV Splitsvilla, the pair took home a prize of Rs 20 lakh.
