In a recent interview, Mithun Chakraborty highlighted the global acclaim for the Ranveer Singh-led film, which has also performed well at the box office. He reflected on his upcoming project, The Bengal Files, which faced a ban in West Bengal, arguing that if his film was restricted, then Dhurandhar 2 should not have been permitted to release either. He noted that the allegations of 'propaganda' emerged only after the film's debut, expressing disappointment over the situation in Bengal regarding his film's release.

Mithun further elaborated that The Bengal Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is based on the historical Noakhali riots that occurred before India's independence. Despite its significance, the film faced opposition in West Bengal. He defended Dhurandhar 2, asserting that it has shattered numerous box office records and has been embraced by audiences from various communities.
