Millie Bobby Brown's Journey with Stranger Things

For over ten years, the Netflix series Stranger Things was more than just a show for Millie Bobby Brown; it was a significant part of her life. With the series concluding, the actress recently opened up about the emotional aftermath, describing it as a "slight depression." During an appearance at Happy Sad Confused at 92NY, she candidly discussed the challenges she faced after finishing the beloved sci-fi series. Brown, who began her journey as Eleven at the age of 10, expressed that the end of the show felt like closing a chapter that had largely shaped her identity. "I started the show when I was 10, and this character was me," she reflected, highlighting how closely her life was intertwined with Eleven and the Stranger Things universe.

Brown shared, “I went into a little bit of a slight, slight depression,” noting that the transition was more challenging than she anticipated. "It was very hard for me. I would not have expected that coming off of the show. I’m a very happy-go-lucky person.”

The emotional toll of the series finale was profound enough that Brown spent part of January reaching out to her fellow cast members to clear the air and ensure there were no unresolved issues. "They probably thought I was crazy," she recalled, expressing her desire to maintain their friendships. "I was like, 'We're still friends, right? Like, you're not gonna stop talking to me anymore?'" She took the initiative to call her co-stars to apologize for any past misunderstandings and to reinforce the strong bonds they had developed over the years. "It's been 10 years, and I really want to be friends. You're my sibling," she emphasized.

Realizing that her daily interactions with the cast were coming to an end was overwhelming for Brown. She recounted a particularly emotional moment when she found herself crying alone on a beach, reflecting on the beauty of the situation. "It was beautiful, and I just sat there crying," she shared, acknowledging how difficult this period was for her. Ultimately, she confessed, "I'm going to miss Eleven more than anything."
