Mika Singh Condemns Police Actions During Student Protests

Mika Singh has voiced his disapproval of the police's response to students protesting the alleged NEET exam leak, describing the footage from the recent protests as disturbing. In an exclusive interview, he expressed his unwavering support for the right of every citizen to peacefully protest and raise their concerns. Commenting on the police's use of force during the Chalo Sansad march at Jantar Mantar on July 20, Mika highlighted his worries regarding the treatment of young students, especially female demonstrators. While he acknowledged the authorities' security concerns, he argued that the force used against students was unwarranted and conveyed a negative message.

Mika Singh Advocates for Peaceful Protests

In his conversation, Mika stated, "I have been observing the protests for several days now. Every citizen in India has the right to express their opinions and question those in power. People often ask us questions too, and they deserve that right."

He further remarked, "The protests had been ongoing peacefully for a long time. However, what I witnessed recently left me shocked and saddened, as innocent students, who are trying to secure their futures, were treated so harshly."

Mika Singh's Concerns for Female Protesters

Mika Singh also expressed deep concern regarding the treatment of female protesters. He stated, "I saw young boys and girls being beaten. While I understand that authorities might suspect some protesters are outsiders, that does not justify violence against students, particularly young women."

Continuing his thoughts, he said, "If we advocate for women's safety, how can we justify using force against female protesters? This is fundamentally wrong."

Mika emphasized that the nature of the protests should not dictate the treatment of protesters. He remarked, "Regardless of whether their demands are right or wrong, the way they are being treated is unacceptable. It is wrong to drag and beat women and then smile afterward."

Mika questioned why students were being treated similarly to hardened criminals, stating, "We reserve such harsh treatment for serious offenders like rapists and gangsters. It is perplexing why students are subjected to the same treatment."

He concluded that if innocent students are treated like criminals, it becomes challenging to discern right from wrong, and such use of force is intolerable. Prior to Mika's comments, several other public figures, including Shabana Azmi, Sonakshi Sinha, and Hrithik Roshan, have also expressed their support for the protesting students.
