He faced accusations of raping a woman following a New Year’s party in London in January 2023, which he consistently denied, asserting that their encounter in a car was consensual.

According to a report by a news outlet, Ward's solicitor, Humzah Ilyas, stated that the case had a significant emotional toll on the actor. Throughout the three and a half years of investigation and trial, Ward's acting career was effectively put on hold. In a statement read by Ilyas, the actor expressed gratitude to the jury for their careful consideration of the evidence. The statement emphasized that Ward maintained the encounter was consensual, and the jury's decision confirmed this.
