The film is set for a global theatrical release in 2028, continuing the storyline from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with Letitia Wright reprising her role as Shuri, who assumed the Black Panther title following King T'Challa's passing.
David Jonsson Takes the Lead as T'Challa's Son
Oscar-winning director Ryan Coogler shared insights about the sequel, which will depict the young hero's journey of self-discovery as he embraces his heritage and ushers in a new era for Wakanda. Black Panther 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2028. Letitia Wright will return as Shuri, who became the Black Panther in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever after the death of Chadwick Boseman.
Earlier in 2023, Wright hinted that plans for a third film were already underway, emphasizing the need for the team to regroup before embarking on the next chapter. Chadwick Boseman, who played King T'Challa in the original film, tragically passed away from colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43 while Coogler was still developing the sequel.
