During the D23 fan event held in Anaheim, California, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed an impressive cast for the upcoming "X-Men" film, set to premiere in May 2028. The film will feature a talented lineup, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury, also known as Mr. Sinister. This announcement was one of the standout moments of the biennial event, which showcases Disney's future film and television projects.
Alongside the "X-Men" news, Disney also provided updates on "Frozen 3," which is scheduled for release in November 2024. This new chapter will follow Anna as she prepares for her wedding and will introduce a new female antagonist, whose identity and voice actor remain undisclosed. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, the voices behind Anna and Elsa, performed a new version of “Frozen Heart,” while Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, introduced a fresh song titled “Ooooh, Samantha.”
The event also showcased exclusive footage from "Star Wars: Starfighter," featuring Ryan Gosling, who is also set to appear in Disney's upcoming Marvel film, "Ghost Rider." Additionally, Disney announced that "VisionQuest," a miniseries focused on the Marvel character Vision, will premiere on October 14, with Paul Bettany reprising his role and James Spader returning as Ultron.
Pixar's Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter announced that "Incredibles 3" is slated for a summer 2028 release, where the superhero family will confront a new villain. The storyline will center on the children, who have been secretly safeguarding the city at night. Docter also revealed plans for "Coco 2," which will take place years after the original, featuring a teenage Miguel and a vengeful Ernesto de la Cruz, with a release date set for November 2029.
Furthermore, Docter mentioned that an animated series based on the "Kingdom Hearts" video game franchise is in the works, with the fourth installment of the game featuring a "Coco" world. Footage presented at the convention showed Sora, the main character from "Kingdom Hearts," exploring this animated universe, further enriching Disney's storytelling landscape.
