Mariah May's recent debut on NXT signifies her long-cherished aspiration to join WWE. After an earlier setback in securing a position with the organization, she has successfully elevated her profile, leading to her current opportunity. Critics have already commended her strategic career move, while a WWE veteran has come to her defense against skeptics.

During a segment on Busted Open After Dark, Bully Ray Dudley shared his insights regarding Mariah May's exit from AEW, suggesting it was a timely decision. He highlighted her final feud with Toni Storm and the notable 'Hollywood Ending' match as the pinnacle of her AEW tenure, asserting it was the perfect moment for her to transition to a larger platform.

“Did Mariah May max out her potential in AEW? I mean, after the Hollywood Ending match against Toni, I’m not quite sure how Mariah could have topped it.” Bully remarked. “She could’ve done something with Sasha [Banks], but with Sasha it’s more of a pro wrestling match. With Toni, it was all about sports entertainment and a great blow-off. A good hardcore blow-off.”

Bully Ray also reflected on Mariah May's unexpected debut on the June 3 episode of WWE NXT, recalling a moment from an AEW press conference where she was overlooked by the media, despite her significant involvement in a storyline with Toni Storm.

Media Oversight and Support for Mariah May

Bully Ray, a multi-time tag team champion from the classic WWE era, expressed his disappointment over the media's neglect of Mariah May during that press conference, noting that not a single question was directed at her. He suggested that this experience may have ignited her determination to claim the recognition she rightfully deserves. He also expressed his admiration for her talent.

“Mariah looked smoking. But that’s what Mariah does. I got a soft spot in my heart for Mariah May because I couldn’t stand how the dirt sheet press treated her at that AEW press conference that one time.” Bully continued. “Not one person had a question for Mariah May. And I was so happy to have Mariah on Busted Open so we could give her the time that she deserved as a champion.”

After weeks of speculation regarding her future in professional wrestling, Mariah May's journey culminated on Tuesday night. She officially made her debut on WWE programming, putting an end to all rumors about her joining the organization, as she aimed for the top title in the NXT women's division during a promotional segment.
