Investment Scam Targeting Marathi Actresses
Recently, a group of Marathi actresses, including Varsha Usgaonkar and Mrunalini Jambhale, became victims of a fraudulent investment scheme in Thane. They were reportedly swindled out of Rs 47 lakh by an individual named Avinash Jadhav. According to the FIR lodged by Mrunalini Subhash Jambhale at the Shivaji Park Police Station, the accused lured them with promises of high returns on their investments.
Details of the Rs 47 Lakh Fraud Case
The FIR indicates that Jadhav persuaded the actresses to invest in a construction venture, assuring them of substantial returns and the return of their principal amount within a year. The police disclosed that Varsha Usgaonkar and her associates collectively transferred Rs 47 lakh through cheques and online payments between November 2019 and February 2020. Jambhale noted that Jadhav initially paid Rs 4.52 lakh as promised returns but later ceased all payments. When she attempted to reach him, he allegedly changed his phone number and residence to evade contact.
Realizing they had been deceived, the group sought assistance from law enforcement. Following the FIR, Avinash Jadhav was charged with cheating and criminal intimidation, with further investigation details pending.
