A Heartfelt Tribute to Rituparno Ghosh

On Friday, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, honored the memory of the acclaimed filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh on the anniversary of his passing, expressing that he is still fondly remembered by many.


Referring to Ghosh affectionately as 'Ritu', Banerjee emphasized that he will never be forgotten. In a post shared on the social media platform X, she stated, “My heartfelt tribute to the renowned filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh on his death anniversary. As long as cinema exists, people will continue to remember his name with great respect.”


She further added, “Ritu, we have not forgotten you, nor will we ever forget you.” Rituparno Ghosh was not only a director but also an actor and writer. He passed away on May 30, 2013. Ghosh was celebrated for his innovative films in Bengali cinema and received numerous accolades, including 12 National Awards and several international honors.
