Mumbai, Oct 15: Stand-up comedians Harsh Gujral and Madhur Virali have been called in by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell due to allegations regarding inappropriate and vulgar comments made during their performances.

The two comedians are scheduled to meet with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for questioning on October 19, following a complaint lodged by a woman, as confirmed by officials.

Harsh Gujral, known for his observational humor and lively stage presence, hails from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He gained fame through live performances and viral YouTube clips, where his engaging conversational style resonates with audiences.

Madhur Virali, an alumnus of IIT Delhi, is recognized for his dark humor and compelling storytelling. His comedy often delves into challenging topics, with sets like 'The IIT Dream' reflecting on student life and personal experiences.

This investigation is part of a larger initiative by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, which has been actively addressing inappropriate content from digital creators. The crackdown began after significant backlash over controversial comments made on Samay Raina's show, 'India's Got Latent', in February 2025. Following this, Harsh Gujral removed episodes of his dark-humor show, 'The Escape Room', from YouTube.

In June 2026, the Cyber Cell took action against other creators, including stand-up comedian Pranit More, for sharing obscene material on social media.

In August 2026, the situation shifted when several online creators, including Samay Raina, participated in a Maharashtra Cyber awareness event aimed at combating online scams. This led to Raina securing a Netflix deal for the second season of 'India's Got Latent', which returned in a revamped format.

Harsh Gujral often incorporates relatable Indian experiences, family dynamics, and cultural nuances into his comedy. His interactive style, showcased in his signature show 'Jo Bolta Hai, Wohi Hota Hai', has solidified his status in India's stand-up scene. Recently, he has ventured into mainstream entertainment, appearing on reality shows like 'The Traitors' and 'Khatron Ke Khiladi 15', which he views as a chance for audiences to see his true self beyond the stage.
