Madhuri Dixit's Tribute to Odisha's Weaving Traditions


Mumbai: Renowned actress Madhuri Dixit is honoring the exquisite textile legacy of Odisha, referring to its traditional weaves as narratives crafted with love and dedication.


In a recent Instagram post, Madhuri expressed her admiration for the detailed artistry and enduring charm of Odisha's handloom creations. She emphasized that each weave embodies the skills, culture, and commitment of artisans passed down through generations.

Madhuri remarked, “The rich weaving traditions of Odisha—timeless, intricate, full of soul. Not just fabrics, but stories woven with love and patience. Honoured to represent this beautiful legacy.”


Odisha is renowned for its stunning handlooms, such as ikat and Sambalpuri weaves, celebrated for their intricate designs and vibrant hues, making them an essential part of India's cultural identity.


On the film front, Madhuri was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, a comedy horror directed by Anees Bazmee, written by Aakash Kaushik, and produced by T-Series Films and Cine1 Studios.


This film marks the third installment in the franchise, following Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. It features Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri, set against the backdrop of Kolkata.


Additionally, she recently starred in the OTT series Mrs. Deshpande, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. This series is an adaptation of the acclaimed French miniseries La Mante, where Madhuri plays the role of Mrs. Deshpande, a serial killer, alongside Siddharth Chandekar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Diksha Juneja in key supporting roles.


Madhuri made her acting debut in the drama Abodh and gained fame with the action drama Tezaab, solidifying her status with leading roles in blockbuster romantic dramas like Dil, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Dil To Pagal Hai.


Other successful films during her career include Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Thanedaar, Kishen Kanhaiya, Saajan, Khalnayak, and Raja.


She received critical acclaim for her performances in Prem Pratigyaa, Parinda, Anjaam, Mrityudand, Pukar, and Lajja. Madhuri also won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Chandramukhi in Devdas.


After a brief hiatus, she made a comeback with the musical Aaja Nachle and has appeared intermittently in films since then. During this time, she has also been a judge on various dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance Deewane.
