Legal Issues Arise Over 'Chunnari Chunnari' Recreation
The new rendition of Chunnari Chunnari featured in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has embroiled the film's producers in a legal controversy after producer Vashu Bhagnani raised concerns. A suo motu notice was issued by the court amidst the ongoing dispute, which reportedly delayed the trailer release for the film starring Varun Dhawan. Today, the team finally launched the trailer at a special event. During the media interaction, producer Ramesh Taurani addressed inquiries regarding the legal notice related to the conflict. Varun Dhawan also shared his thoughts on reinterpreting the classic song originally performed by Salman Khan for his new project.
Ramesh Taurani Addresses the Controversy
Ramesh Taurani from Tips Industries Ltd stated, "There is no issue here. Everything has been resolved." He assured that the promotional activities and the film's release schedule would remain unaffected by the dispute. Taurani emphasized that they are prepared to address any concerns that may arise, noting, "This is a sub judice matter, and we are managing it." This statement followed Vashu Bhagnani's expression of disappointment regarding the recreated songs linked to his film, Biwi No 1, for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Bhagnani mentioned that while the songs were licensed to Tips Music, David Dhawan should have personally informed him about their use, especially since his son is involved in the project. He raised ethical concerns about reusing the same songs for another producer and expressed that the situation had taken an emotional toll on his family.
Varun Dhawan Discusses the Recreation Process
In the meantime, Varun Dhawan shared his excitement about recreating the song alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. He described the experience as thrilling, revealing that the team first listened to the track while in Scotland. He praised Ramesh for the song's beautiful production, noting that his music company managed the production elements. Varun elaborated that the new version was crafted to align with the film's comedic tone. He mentioned that the primary challenge was to seamlessly integrate the song into the storyline and its humorous context, highlighting the 'double trouble' comedic aspect arising from the character interactions with the female leads. Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is scheduled for theatrical release on June 5, 2026.
