The controversy surrounding Pranit More's stand-up performance has escalated into legal action. Maharashtra Cyber has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Pranit and several others for allegedly sharing 'obscene and objectionable content'. This incident gained traction after Himanshu Jangra, an audience member, made offensive remarks during the show. The FIR also implicates Himanshu and another audience member, Sejal Pawar, for their involvement in the viral content. The National Commission for Women has intervened, summoning both Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra for questioning.

FIR Filed Against Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra

The FIR, lodged by Maharashtra Cyber, targets Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar, and others. It cites violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Information Technology Act 2000. All three individuals have been summoned to provide their statements to Maharashtra Cyber as the investigation unfolds. The National Commission for Women has also taken notice of the situation, calling for Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra to appear before them on June 22. Additionally, the NCW has reached out to the Haryana DGP, urging prompt and stringent action regarding the case.

The FIR mentions Dr. Sejal Pawar, who reportedly made inappropriate comments about deceased bodies and medical cadavers used for educational purposes. Maharashtra Cyber emphasized that such remarks disrespected the dignity of the deceased and violated public decency standards.

Overview of the Controversy

The uproar began when a clip from Pranit More's live stand-up show went viral on Instagram. In the video, Himanshu Jangra shared a personal anecdote about spending approximately Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani for a date, suggesting that his expenditure entitled him to physical intimacy. Instead of addressing this troubling perspective, Pranit More laughed it off, labeling it as 'Peak Gurgaon content.' This response ignited significant backlash across social media platforms.

In light of the criticism, Pranit issued a public apology and deleted the clip from his accounts. Himanshu also expressed regret, stating that his intention was merely to entertain, although he acknowledged the insensitivity of his comments. Following the incident, he deactivated his social media profiles, and his employer, a branding and design firm based in Gurugram, terminated his employment.
