Kichcha Sudeep Stands by Director Prem Amid Controversy Over 'Sarke Chunar' Lyrics
Controversy Surrounds 'Sarke Chunar' Song
The director of KD: The Devil, Prem, faced significant backlash for the Kannada song 'Sarse Ninna Sarega Sarse' (translated to 'Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke' in Hindi). The dance track featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi drew criticism for its provocative lyrics, leading to the Hindi version being removed from YouTube due to complaints from users regarding its explicit content. In the midst of this controversy, Kichcha Sudeep, who has a cameo in the film, defended Prem during a press conference prior to the film's release.

At the press event for KD: The Devil, Sudeep addressed the song's controversy, highlighting that Prem has previously created music that resonates with familial bonds. He noted that many still enjoy Prem's songs about mothers and their love. The Bigg Boss Kannada host emphasized that while outsiders may criticize, Kannadigas should appreciate Prem's contributions to the Sandalwood film industry. He remarked, “I’m not claiming he erred with his song; sometimes, things just don’t resonate, and that’s acceptable.”
Sudeep also pointed out that the online backlash made Prem feel belittled, urging fellow Kannadigas to show more compassion.

Prem’s Wife Statement About Sarke Chunar Controversy
Following the release of the Kannada version, many internet users expressed their discontent with the song's suggestive lyrics. In response, Prem’s wife, Rakshita, took to Instagram to defend her husband, referencing other double-entendre songs that were previously accepted. She stated, “Whether I support it or not is irrelevant; songs like 'Peelings', 'Dreamum Wakeupum', and 'Choli ke Peeche' were deemed acceptable. Yet, one song stirs such a massive uproar.”
In the wake of the controversy, Nora Fatehi distanced herself from the situation, while Sanjay Dutt issued an apology to the National Commission for Women and pledged to fund the education of 50 tribal children. Additionally, lyricist Raqueeb Alam, along with Prem and representatives from KVN Productions, appeared before the commission.
