Karuppu Film Release Delayed Again: Evening Shows Canceled
Karuppu Faces Further Delays
Karuppu: The much-anticipated film featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan has encountered yet another setback. Following the cancellation of morning screenings, it was initially scheduled to premiere at 6 PM. Unfortunately, fans were left disappointed as the evening shows have also been called off. Various cinema chains took to social media to express their apologies for the disruption.
Evening Screenings Canceled
Broadway Cinemas announced on X, "#Karuppu evening and night shows have been regrettably canceled. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused." Similarly, AGS Cinemas tweeted, "The release of #Karuppu continues to be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Updated screening information will be shared soon. Refunds for purchased tickets will be processed through the respective booking platforms and box office counters." Seven Screen's Cinemas also provided details on refunds, stating, "#Karuppu refunds for the 07:10 PM / 07:50 PM shows will be handled through the respective online booking platforms. Offline ticket refunds will be available at the box office." With the cancellation of evening shows, it appears that Karuppu's release has been postponed to tomorrow, May 15. However, there is no assurance that the film will be released without further issues. Fans are now waiting for an official announcement.
Reasons Behind the Delay
The ongoing delays for Karuppu are reportedly due to unresolved financial disputes between the producers and financiers. Approximately Rs 10 crore in dues remain outstanding in Tamil Nadu, and until these issues are resolved, the film cannot be released smoothly across theaters. Director RJ Balaji shared an emotional video on Instagram, visibly upset as he apologized to fans. He admitted he did not have a definitive answer to the situation but reassured that the producers were working diligently to overcome the obstacles. In a tweet, Balaji encouraged fans to remain hopeful, stating that Karuppu would navigate through these challenges just as it has in the past. He reflected on the film's 32-month journey, expressing faith that everything would work out in the end.
