Karisma Kapoor Discusses Family Support and Her Role in 'Brown'
Karisma Kapoor's Return to the Screen
Karisma Kapoor is gearing up for her comeback with the series Brown. Ahead of its release, she shared insights into the support system that has kept her grounded throughout her illustrious career. Hailing from one of Bollywood's most renowned families, Karisma expressed that her relatives are always eager to see her performances, yet they do not shy away from providing candid feedback. In a recent interview with a media outlet, she mentioned that while her sister Kareena Kapoor is one of her biggest supporters, her mother stands out as her most stringent critic.
The Importance of Honest Feedback
Karisma On Family Support And Honest Feedback
Discussing her family's anticipation for Brown, Karisma stated, "They are all excited and eager to watch it. We genuinely enjoy seeing each other's work. For us, it’s about family. However, we don’t just say nice things because we are related; we provide each other with honest opinions." She emphasized that this straightforwardness is crucial, especially given the number of actors in the Kapoor family. When asked about the toughest critic in her life, she quickly pointed to her mother, saying, "Honestly, my mother. She would directly ask me, even back in the day, 'What is this?'" Karisma appreciates this honesty, as it contributes to her growth as an actress. "Receiving truthful feedback from family is vital. I’m fortunate to have such talented actors in my family who offer genuine critiques. It’s a remarkable trait that we can view things objectively," she added.

She also highlighted the strong bond she shares with her sister Kareena, stating, "We are each other's biggest cheerleaders, both in our careers and personal lives." Interestingly, Karisma revealed that she almost turned down the role in Brown. During the interview, she confessed that her initial reaction was a definite no. "I don’t act much. I live my own life, at my own pace, in my own lane. I’m not involved in any rat race," she explained. Despite the producers urging her to consider the script, she was hesitant due to the commitment of nearly 50 days of shooting in another city. However, her perspective shifted once she finally heard the story. "It was an exciting project that could bring me back to a film set. It was enjoyable yet challenging, and I appreciated that balance," she noted. Karisma acknowledged that playing a broken and emotionally complex character pushed her beyond her comfort zone.
