Karan Johar's Latest Film Faces Mixed Reactions

Karan Johar Addresses Criticism Over Star Kids in Bollywood

Renowned Bollywood director Karan Johar has frequently been scrutinized for his inclination to promote star kids within the film industry. His recent project, Nadaniyaan, featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan, and Khushi Kapoor, daughter of Sridevi, did not resonate well with audiences, garnering a tepid reception.

During a promotional event for his upcoming film Akal, where he appeared alongside Punjabi actor and singer Gippy Grewal, Karan was questioned about the backlash directed at Nadaniyaan and the trolling experienced by its lead cast.

Karan Johar’s Take: "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge..."

In reply to the media inquiry, Karan Johar referenced a well-known Bollywood song:

"Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. Chhodo bekaar ki baatein, kahin beet na jaaye rehna."

This suggests that he believes criticism is a part of the industry, and he opts to disregard unwarranted negativity.

Gippy Grewal Stands by Karan Johar

At the event, Gippy Grewal expressed his support for Karan by sharing his own experiences in the Punjabi film sector. He recounted how he faced skepticism early in his career, but after the success of Carry On Jatta, those same critics began to predict his 100-crore success. His point was clear—initial doubts do not determine future achievements.

Karan Johar Discusses His Main Concern

Karan emphasized that trolling does not affect him, nor does media criticism. His primary concern lies with individuals who resort to violent reactions regarding a film. He expressed that discussing violence is as detrimental as the act itself and firmly opposes such extreme responses.

Despite the lukewarm reception of Nadaniyaan, Karan Johar remains steadfast in his commitment to nurturing new talent in the industry, irrespective of the ongoing nepotism discussions.
