Kangana Ranaut Engages in Generational Debate

In Mumbai, actress Kangana Ranaut recently shared a video that delves into the influence of social media and technology on different generations, particularly focusing on millennials and Gen Z. The video features a discussion with social psychologist Jonathan Haidt and Oli Dugmore on the latest episode of 'The Exchange.'

Kangana reacted to the conversation by emphasizing a point made about millennials' intelligence, while humorously contrasting it with Gen Z. She posted on her Instagram stories, stating, 'Even though Gen Z is currently in the spotlight, surveys indicate that millennials are the most intelligent generation ever. Ahem, the host was like, ‘keep going.’'

The 'Queen' actress seemed to resonate with the notion that millennials possess a unique intelligence, while also playfully highlighting the differences between the two age groups.

During the discussion, Haidt elaborated on how political experiences during formative years shape an individual's worldview. He noted, 'The political landscape you encounter between ages 16 to 24 has a lasting impact on your life.' He described millennials as a captivating generation, marking them as the last cohort before the internet and social media dramatically altered youth experiences.

Haidt further asserted that millennials emerged during a time when intelligence levels were on the rise, declaring, 'Your generation is the most intelligent in history,' and noted that this trend continued until the millennial generation.

Last month, Kangana had to clarify her previous comments regarding Gen Z made during a student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. She shared a video featuring a Congress leader, stating that her remarks were misinterpreted.

She explained, 'A Congress leader claimed I referred to the youth of the entire country as gutter cchaaps. If we consider Gen Z, their population is around 30-35 crores, yet only about 10,000 were present at Jantar Mantar, with many being older individuals like Shabana Azmi. If we focus on Gen Z, only about 2,000 were there, so how can this be labeled a Gen Z protest? I specifically addressed the generation present. I challenge anyone to provide a direct quote where I generalized about the entire generation. I cannot oppose the youth, as I am part of it, not a 55-60-year-old youth like Rahul Gandhi.'

Kangana has recently been in the limelight due to her comments about Gen Z and the student protests at Jantar Mantar, where she controversially referred to some young protesters as 'Generation Gutter' and accused them of being swayed by Western ideologies.
