Kangana Ranaut Backs Kamal Haasan in Elon Musk Controversy: A Stand for India's Sovereignty
Kangana Ranaut Supports Kamal Haasan's Stance Against Elon Musk
Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has voiced her support for fellow actor and Rajya Sabha member Kamal Haasan after he delivered a strong response to Elon Musk. The situation escalated when Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, questioned whether Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, had excessive influence over India's decisions regarding the entry of Starlink, Musk's satellite internet service, into the Indian market. Ranaut took to social media to commend Haasan's remarks, labeling them as sharp, precise, and effectively sarcastic, while tagging Musk directly in her post.
The controversy began when Musk expressed his frustration over the regulatory hurdles that Starlink faces in India, despite having obtained licenses in more than 165 countries. His public query insinuated that Ambani was the true power behind India's decisions, suggesting that the Reliance chairman was hindering his company's operations. In response, Haasan asserted that no billionaire, regardless of their origin, should have the authority to dictate the policies of a sovereign nation. He stressed that while India is open to global competition, it must prioritize its national security and strategic interests over the demands of foreign corporations.

Haasan Challenges Western Double Standards and Policy Sovereignty
In his comprehensive reply, Haasan pointed out what he sees as the hypocrisy of Western nations concerning free-market competition. He cited the United States' implementation of 100 percent tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles as a prime example of protectionism, arguing that countries often prioritize their economic interests while promoting open markets elsewhere. Haasan insisted that telecommunications infrastructure and spectrum allocation are vital strategic resources that should be managed with care, rather than being treated merely as commercial assets.

Haasan also touched on local issues, mentioning the BharatNet initiative aimed at enhancing internet access in rural areas. He referenced findings from a Comptroller and Auditor General audit report, which revealed that only 33.2 percent of service-ready points were operational despite a hefty investment of 39,888 crore rupees. Ultimately, Haasan reiterated that India is a democracy, not a colony, asserting that the nation's future should be shaped by its citizens rather than foreign interests or the influence of powerful business figures.
