Kamal Haasan, the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam, has addressed a letter to US President Donald Trump, urging him to refrain from involving India in the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The actor-turned-politician emphasized that India is a sovereign nation that does not take directives from foreign powers, expressing a desire for peace and prosperity for the United States.

On February 298, the US and Israel launched missile strikes against Iran, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials. In retaliation, Iran has conducted several attacks in the region, including a recent incident that claimed the lives of two Indians during an oil tanker assault in the Gulf of Oman.

Haasan urged Trump to focus on domestic matters, stating, “Please mind your own business to the best of your abilities. Mutual respect between sovereign nations is the only foundation of lasting global peace.” He concluded the letter by wishing peace and prosperity to the US and its people, signing off as a “proud Indian citizen” and the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam.


Kamal Haasan's Political and Film Career

Founded in 2018, Haasan's political party has seen him become a Member of Parliament as of July 25, 2025, after collaborating with the DMK. At 71, he continues to pursue his passion for cinema alongside his political endeavors, unlike fellow actor Vijay, who has declared that his upcoming film Jana Nayagan will be his last.
