After several years, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to share the screen once more in a film tentatively titled KH x RK, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. This project also signifies Rajinikanth’s collaboration with the director known for the Jailer franchise. Shruti Haasan has clarified her position regarding her involvement in the upcoming film KH x RK featuring her father and Rajinikanth. During a recent awards ceremony, she confirmed that she is not part of the project. She mentioned that she had met both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth recently, but it was not related to this film.
She expressed her excitement to witness director Nelson Dilipkumar’s vision unfold. Having previously worked with Rajinikanth in Coolie, she shared that this experience made her a fan of the superstar, describing the film as a significant celebration for the industry, uniting two legendary figures. The Reunion of Cinema Legends
This film marks a significant cinematic reunion for Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, who last appeared together in a full-length role in Ninaithale Inikkum (1979). They had a brief appearance together in Thillu Mullu (1981), where Kamal Haasan made a cameo. Their collaboration dates back to Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by K. Balachander, which also starred Srividya, Sundarrajan, Nagesh, and Jayasudha.
In addition to KH x RK, both stars are expected to work together on another project titled Thalaivar 173. Rajinikanth will take on the lead role, while Kamal Haasan will serve as a producer under his banner, Raaj Kamal Films International. Recently, the social media account of Raaj Kamal Films International shared a birthday post for director Ashwath Marimuthu, hinting at his involvement in Thalaivar 173. Fans are left puzzled as Cibi Chakravarthy was initially announced as the director. Earlier, Sundar C was set to direct the film but stepped down without providing reasons, although he continues to hold admiration for the superstars.
