Kamal Haasan and Ayushmann Khurrana Among 534 New Members of the Academy
A New Class of Academy Members
This year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to 534 new members, including renowned actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan, Bollywood sensation Ayushmann Khurrana, and writer-director Payal Kapadia.
The list showcases a diverse array of influential figures from various sectors of Hollywood and global cinema, prominently featuring several artists from India.
In addition to Haasan, Khurrana, and Kapadia, notable names include Karan Mally, the casting director of 'Gully Boy', cinematographer Ranabir Das from 'All We Imagine As Light', and costume designer Maxima Basu. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang expressed their excitement, stating, 'We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy.' They emphasized the significant contributions these talented individuals have made to the global filmmaking landscape.
Other prominent figures on the list include actors Gillian Anderson, Jodie Comer, Emma Corrin, Kieran Culkin, Margaret Qualley, Andrew Scott, and Jeremy Strong.
The list also highlights Indian-origin Canadian producer Raj Kapoor, along with Ravi Ahuja in the executive category, American music composer Siddharth Khosla of Indian descent, Canadian musician Amrita Vaz, and documentary filmmaker Smriti Mundhra, among others.
In the directors' category, notable inclusions are Coralie Fargeat, Mike Flanagan, and Miguel Gomes, among others.
