Jennifer Aniston's Touching Letter to Matthew Perry Pulled from Charity Auction
Heartfelt Note Withdrawn from Auction
A handwritten letter from Jennifer Aniston to her late 'Friends' co-star Matthew Perry has been removed from an upcoming charity auction, as confirmed by Heritage Auctions. This poignant note, believed to have been written around the conclusion of the iconic series in 2004, was part of Perry's possessions that were to be auctioned to support his charity. The auction house has officially announced the withdrawal of the letter, as reported by a media outlet.
This emotional letter provides a glimpse into the profound bond shared between Aniston and Perry, addressing the actor's struggles with addiction. In her message, Aniston conveys her sense of loss, stating, “Matty! Oh my God....How am [I] going to live without your light in my life on a daily basis? I know that the light has been dimmed at times and there were moments I was so scared it was going to go out altogether. You have always come back.” She goes on to commend Perry, saying, “Thank you for choosing to live this life. You have so much to give and not just to the masses with your talent but as a friend and a husband and a father.”
Reflecting nostalgically, Aniston reminisces about their initial encounter, saying, “We have come a long way baby. Since that night we met at that bar whose name I can’t remember…. Anyway…. I love you dear friend.” She reassures him of her steadfast support, adding, “I am so proud of you and I am always here for you. You may not think to call me but I am always here. This has been quite a [sic] we have shared and I so cherish it and you. I love you.”
The letter also features a typed poem that highlights themes of love and self-discovery, concluding with lines about embracing the unknown and starting fresh. Aniston signed the poem with a heart, emphasizing the affection she had for Perry.
The auction was initially set for June 5, with proceeds intended for the Matthew Perry Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on assisting individuals facing addiction challenges. This cause held special significance for Perry, who candidly shared his own struggles with substance abuse. Best known for portraying Chandler Bing on the beloved sitcom, Perry sadly passed away in October 2023 at the age of 54 in his Los Angeles home.
