Jared Leto Denies Serious Allegations
Actor and musician Jared Leto has categorically rejected the allegations of criminal sexual conduct leveled against him in a recent BBC documentary titled "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Darkest Secret." Released on Wednesday, the documentary features claims from four women who assert they were teenagers during the alleged incidents. Overall, the film presents serious accusations from ten women, with nine of them sharing their stories publicly for the first time.
In light of these allegations, Leto released a statement declaring, "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false," as reported by Variety. The documentary includes unsettling testimonies, including one woman who claims Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was just 17. Another woman alleged that he threatened her with sexual assault at 19, while a third stated she had sexual relations with Leto in California at 17, which is below the state's legal age of consent.
Moreover, a fourth woman accused Leto of making numerous sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16, during which he purportedly suggested they engage in sexual activities. The BBC reported that it had acquired a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that the fourth woman was asked to sign to keep her relationship with Leto confidential, which she ultimately declined. The interactions described by the women reportedly occurred between 2002 and 2016, a time when Leto was in his 30s and 40s.
One of the alleged victims voiced her frustration in the documentary, stating, "This was 25 years ago, he has gotten away with it." The BBC has corroborated several women's accounts with friends and family who were informed of the incidents at the time. Additionally, the broadcaster reviewed photographs and messages that reportedly lend support to the women's claims, according to Variety.
These allegations are not the first against Leto. Last year, DJ Allie Teilz accused him of sexual misconduct on social media, claiming he assaulted her when she was 17. Following her allegations, several other women came forward, leading to an investigation by Air Mail. Leto has consistently denied all allegations made against him in these instances.
