Jacqueline Fernandez Faces Legal Challenges

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been embroiled in legal issues for some time. Recently, she filed a petition contesting a Delhi court's ruling to frame charges against her in a significant money laundering case involving Rs 200 crore, allegedly connected to Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Reports indicate that on May 30, the Delhi Court officially charged Jacqueline, Sukesh, and 15 others. However, the Supreme Court has now reportedly allowed her to withdraw her plea against the Delhi court's decision. Read on for further details.

Supreme Court Grants Withdrawal of Plea

As reported by a news agency, a bench comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi permitted Jacqueline's legal team to withdraw the petition. The counsel for Jacqueline requested the court's permission to retract the special petition while retaining the right to pursue other legal remedies as necessary.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court granted this request. According to additional reports, the money laundering case dates back to 2021, initiated by a complaint from Aditi Singh, who alleged she was defrauded of nearly Rs 200 crore in a scheme led by Sukesh. Jacqueline was rumored to have received gifts and benefits totaling Rs 5.71 crore, which included luxury watches, designer bags, foreign fund transfers, and vehicles for her family. The Enforcement Directorate initiated a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) based on a predicate offense filed by the Delhi police. Reports suggest that Sukesh utilized the proceeds from his crimes to acquire lavish gifts for various Bollywood stars.
