Actor Imran Khan has added his voice to the chorus of support for student protests currently taking place in India. On Wednesday, he took part in a peaceful rally in Mumbai, showing his backing for students who are raising concerns about alleged issues within the education system. Despite the heavy downpour, he was spotted at Shivaji Park in Dadar, walking alongside the demonstrators. Clips and images of him engaging with the crowd, snapping selfies, and marching alongside students quickly gained traction on social media.

While at the protest, Khan articulated his reasons for attending, stating, "I am here to show support and solidarity with all of the students who have been impacted." He condemned the reported violent actions taken against student protesters, asserting that such aggression has no place in civil discourse. He stressed that when students voice legitimate concerns, the response should not involve violence, which he labeled as entirely unacceptable.

Just a day prior to his participation in the Mumbai protest, Khan shared a heartfelt message on Instagram in response to reports of police actions against students at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. In his post, he conveyed his anguish, stating, "Something broke in me today watching as police gassed and battered student protesters. How could I make sense of this?" He raised questions about the treatment of protesters, underscoring the necessity for accountability from those in authority and the importance of heeding the calls for educational reform from students.

Interestingly, Khan's involvement in the protest follows closely after his uncle, the renowned actor Aamir Khan, made headlines during a discussion at the British Film Institute in London. During a Q&A session, Aamir was asked if his beloved character from "Three Idiots," Phunsukh Wangdu, was inspired by social activist Sonam Wangchuk. Aamir clarified that this was a misunderstanding, as he was not aware of Wangchuk during the film's production. Nevertheless, he commended Wangchuk's efforts and expressed concern for his health amid ongoing hunger strikes, emphasizing a collective hope for a favorable outcome.
