IIT Mandi Achieves Notable Ranking Improvement

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has made a remarkable advancement in the global academic rankings, climbing 200 spots in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027.

Previously ranked in the 1001–1200 category, the institute has now moved up to the 801–1000 range, showcasing a significant enhancement in its global academic reputation and solidifying IIT Mandi’s expanding influence in the international higher education sector.

This latest ranking is particularly noteworthy as the THE World University Rankings 2027 evaluates 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories, marking it as the most extensive edition of the rankings to date.

The assessment criteria encompass five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. IIT Mandi’s improved ranking underscores its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, industry collaboration, and global partnerships.

IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera remarked that this achievement reflects the collective dedication of the institute’s faculty, students, staff, alumni, and partner organizations.

He emphasized that the institute will persist in its mission of transformative education, pioneering research, and innovations aimed at tackling societal challenges and fostering a brighter future.

The director also noted that this accomplishment would further inspire IIT Mandi to enhance its academic and research framework, thereby increasing its contributions to both India and the global community.

With a growing emphasis on interdisciplinary research, collaboration between academia and industry, and addressing regional, national, and global issues, IIT Mandi aims to strengthen its standing among internationally recognized institutions.
