Originally, the IIFA was slated for August–September 2026, but the event was postponed due to incomplete preparations. The previous IIFA event took place in Jaipur in 2025, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Kartik Aaryan. At that ceremony, the film *Laapataa Ladies*, directed by Kiran Rao, won a total of 10 awards across various categories.

Notable Achievements at IIFA

Throughout its history, IIFA has recognized numerous films with multiple awards. Aamir Khan's *3 Idiots* and *Devdas* each won 16 awards at a single event. Other successful films like *Kal Ho Naa Ho*, *Barfi!*, and *Bhaag Milkha Bhaag* secured 14 awards each. In terms of acting accolades, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan have each received 5 awards (combining Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor). Among female performers, Rani Mukerji has also won 5 awards (combining Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress). Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been honored with 4 awards in the directing category.

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards were established in 2000, with the inaugural ceremony taking place on June 24 of that year. The film *Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam*, featuring Ajay Devgn, Aishwarya Rai, and Salman Khan, was awarded Best Film at this first event. The awards celebrate excellence in various categories, including Bollywood films, actors, actresses, and direction.
