Insights on Multicultural Parenting

During a discussion with Vogue Arabia, Priyanka was asked about her approach to parenting in a multicultural setting. As a well-known Indian figure on the global stage, she recognizes the weight of her identity and the need to stay true to herself while navigating family life. She expressed, “I’m not a diplomat, I’m an actor, but I strive to use my platform to represent my culture positively. I cherish India and am deeply connected to my Indian roots in various aspects of my life. However, I recognize that our family also embraces American culture. While I endeavor to keep my traditions alive in our daily lives, we are situated in the United States.”

Priyanka also noted the importance of raising Malti in this diverse environment, mentioning that while Malti is more familiar with American culture, Nick is learning and adapting. “He has a deep appreciation for India and respects it greatly. He participates in my pujas and religious ceremonies. We celebrate with equal dedication and intention, whether it’s Holi or Thanksgiving,” she shared.

In December 2018, Priyanka and Nick celebrated their union with a lavish wedding at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, which included both Hindu and Christian ceremonies, along with various pre-wedding festivities. The couple welcomed their daughter Malti in 2022.
