Accusations of Plagiarism in Housefull 5

As Housefull 5 enjoys significant box office success, it has recently faced criticism from dancer and content creator Sandip Brahamin. He claims that the film's song 'Laal Pari' features his distinctive 'hat move' without proper acknowledgment.

In a viral reel, Sandip expressed his frustration, stating, 'Many of my friends reached out after seeing the video. I checked Instagram and YouTube, but there’s no credit given. I’m unsure what’s going on.'

In response to these allegations, director Tarun Mansukhani shared with a media outlet, 'I came across this issue after the song's release. I hadn’t seen his videos prior. The step in our song is indeed a hook step he is known for.' He added, 'Someone must have noticed it and thought it was a great move to include.'

Director's Response and Choreography Insights

The choreography for 'Laal Pari' was done by Remo D’Souza, featuring stars like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Jacqueline Fernandez. Tarun further mentioned that had he known about Sandip earlier, he would have invited him to choreograph the step, emphasizing, 'There was no intention to harm or steal. If I had known him, I would have loved to have him choreograph for my actors.'

He clarified, 'There was no intent to plagiarize. It’s unfortunate that this has happened, and we apologize if he feels wronged.'

Previously, the film's teaser had also made headlines when it was removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim related to 'Laal Pari' by Mofusion Studios.

Box Office Performance Amid Controversy

Despite the ongoing controversy, 'Laal Pari,' performed by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Simar Kaur, has become a viral hit. Housefull 5 has surpassed Rs 100 crore in India and, according to the director, has grossed Rs 178 crore globally.
