The anticipation for the latest installment set in Panem is palpable among fans. A newly released trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping showcases a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, who is torn from his love, Leonore Dove (Whitney Peak), to compete in the 50th Hunger Games. As a prequel, viewers already know that he emerges victorious and later mentors Katniss Everdeen, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence). The gripping trailer reveals the intense second Quarter Quell, where 48 young contestants must fight for survival.


Haymitch's Perspective in Sunrise on the Reaping

The trailer debuted on social media with the intriguing tagline, "All machines can be broken." Haymitch's spirit is initially crushed as he is taken from District 12, leaving behind his family and first love. The trailer also highlights his encounters with gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, played by Jesse Plemons; Elle Fanning as a young Effie Trinket, his stylist; Kieran Culkin as the lively host Caesar Flickerman; and Ralph Fiennes as the sinister President Snow.


Fiennes joins the ranks of actors who have portrayed Snow, following Donald Sutherland and Tom Blyth. The second Quarter Quell mandates that each district in Panem send double the number of tributes to the Capitol for the games. For this 50th edition, 48 children will be forced to compete instead of the usual 24.
