A Memorable Halloween Experience

In a recent chat on 'First We Feast's Hot Ones,' Hollywood star Penelope Cruz opened up about her long-standing friendship with Salma Hayek, reminiscing about a particularly wild Halloween. Cruz affectionately referred to Hayek as "another sister for me" as she recounted a chaotic flight where they both wore clown wigs and costumes. This story was shared after host Sean Evans prompted her to reflect on memorable moments from their collaboration in the 2006 film Bandidas.

Cruz admitted her fear of clowns, stating, "I don't like clowns. They are scary no matter what." The situation took a turn for the dramatic when their flight faced cabin depressurization, leading the pilot to announce the need for oxygen masks. Cruz vividly recalled, "Imagine, 10 of us were dressed like clowns. And then the pilot said, 'Oxygen masks! We're having a depressurization of the cabin.'" The urgency was heightened by flight attendants rushing with oxygen tanks, creating a surreal scene amidst the emergency.

Fortunately, they landed safely, and Cruz reflected on how this bizarre incident strengthened her bond with Hayek. "We were very lucky, we landed safely. But that was such a crazy bonding experience," she shared. After the flight, they had to catch another plane in their clown outfits for a shoot scheduled just hours later. Cruz humorously noted, "Of course we were late on set. But alive." This Halloween tale is just one of many that Cruz has shared about her friendship with Hayek.

The actresses have remained close since their time on Bandidas, where they played a pair of unconventional bank robbers. Cruz fondly remembered her early days in Los Angeles, highlighting Hayek's warm welcome when she first arrived in the city. "I was coming to Los Angeles for two months and I didn't know anyone here," Cruz recounted during a 2023 appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.' Hayek's generosity shone through as she insisted, "You're not going to the hotel. You're coming to my house because this is hard at the beginning and you're going to feel very lonely."

Looking forward, Penelope Cruz has several exciting projects lined up, including the premiere of La Bola Negra at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as Day Drinker alongside Johnny Depp and Bunker with her husband, Javier Bardem. As she continues to thrive in her career, Cruz's heartfelt reflections on her friendship with Hayek remind us of the meaningful connections that enrich their lives in the entertainment world.
