This project is being developed by A24 and Square Peg, with Lorene Scafaria in discussions to direct the film.
The novel, released in 2024 by Penguin Random House, tells the story of a cunning grifter navigating the intricate social scene of the Hamptons during summer. It has received considerable critical acclaim, making it to the longlist for the PEN/Faulkner Award and being recognized as one of the year's best books by various publications, including The New Yorker, Time, NPR, and The Washington Post.

This upcoming project represents a pivotal moment in Sadie Sink’s career as she ventures beyond her television beginnings. In addition to her streaming work, Sink has recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya. She is expected to reprise this role in the upcoming X-Men reboot, directed by Jake Schreier, which is set for release on May 5, 2028.
Her impressive resume also includes a role in the Oscar-winning film The Whale, as well as performances in the West End's Romeo and Juliet and the Broadway play John Proctor is the Villain, the latter earning her a Tony Award nomination.
