In a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt Damon shared an intriguing detail about his role in 'The Odyssey.' While many admired his impressive physique in the film, he disclosed that some of the muscle definition seen on screen actually belonged to his female stunt double. Damon expressed his admiration for her, stating she had "the greatest arms" he had ever encountered. This revelation came after the podcast host, Joshua Horowitz, compared Damon's biceps to those of a Hemsworth brother.

The Stunt Performer Behind the Action

During the podcast, Damon elaborated on the filming techniques used for the Laestrygonian giant scenes, which involved forced-perspective camera tricks. He mentioned that his stunt double was a woman, a skilled performer who helped create the illusion of scale alongside other actors of varying heights. Damon recalled expressing his gratitude to her when they first met in the catering tent, acknowledging her hard work on set.

Despite the reliance on his stunt double for specific scenes, Damon clarified that the majority of the muscular arms showcased in the film were indeed his own. The stunt performer, identified as Devyn Dalton, took to social media to express her pride in doubling for Damon, highlighting her previous work on various shows including 'Once Upon A Time' and 'The Last Of Us.'

In another interview with a popular magazine, Damon discussed the significant physical transformation he underwent for this role. He revealed that he managed to return to his high school weight of 167 pounds through a comprehensive overhaul of his diet and lifestyle, rather than relying solely on exercise. He emphasized that the process focused more on mindful eating and adjusting his daily habits. Damon described the filming experience as one of the most challenging of his career, praising director Christopher Nolan for enduring the same harsh conditions as the cast.

'The Odyssey,' inspired by Homer's epic poem, features a star-studded cast including Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and others. The film is currently showing in theaters.
