Fowler's research indicated that the compromised databases held approximately 666,000 records spanning from 2019 to 2026. These records included marketing documents, such as press releases, stored on a cloud platform. A particularly alarming backup file labeled ‘contacts’ contained the personal details of various celebrities. All exposed information was associated with the Tribeca Film Festival, co-founded by Robert De Niro in 2002. Other notable personalities impacted by this breach include Danny Boyle, Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Douglas, and George Lucas.

Fowler speculated that the leak might have stemmed from human error, highlighting the unusual nature of such incidents involving individuals who typically take extensive measures to protect their privacy. He remarked, “It’s really unique because these individuals are so guarded and they protect their personal privacy, their contacts, their phone numbers.” While the exact timeframe during which the information was publicly accessible is uncertain, Fowler confirmed that the data was taken offline after he notified festival officials.

Among the concerning findings was a folder that documented device information linked to the email addresses, detailing specifics such as the type of iPhone and the software version in use.
