New details have emerged regarding the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. After a sneak peek was shown at CinemaCon 2026, actress Kathryn Newton took to her social media to announce her role in the film. She will reprise her role as Cassie Lang, joining Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man in this superhero sequel. Newton was last seen in the 2024 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and her return raises many questions about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Cassie Lang Returns in Avengers: Doomsday
In a recent Instagram video, Newton confirmed her comeback to the MCU, much to the delight of fans who had speculated about Cassie's return, especially after Scott Lang's involvement was confirmed. In a playful nod to the announcement of the Doomsday cast, she showcased a miniature director’s chair, humorously stating, “[It’s] tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny.”
In this upcoming film, Cassie will join forces with her father and other heroes from the MCU to face a new challenge posed by Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The acclaimed actor, who originally took on the role of Iron Man, is set to return as a new villain.
During CinemaCon, attendees were treated to a glimpse of a touching moment between Scott, aka Ant-Man, and Cassie, where he affectionately kisses her on the head in a special trailer. The film will also feature a star-studded lineup, including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther (Letitia Wright), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Gambit (Channing Tatum). Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2026.

Kathryn Newton, known for her role in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, is the third actress to take on the role of Cassie in the MCU, following Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann, who portrayed younger versions of the character in previous films.
